On Thursday April 17, 2008, the Lynn Tech Robotics Team was proud to host a special "Tech Day" for the Project Summit children of Lynn. Laughter, fun, and learning were present at all times. There were a total of 45 kids who attended along with their teachers. The students were broken down into 3 groups to go along with our three different activities. The more hands on and problem solving activity had the children building their own robotic arm that had to pick up an object. The creativity and uniqueness of each arm was amazing. Although the joy in the kids was clear during these activities, it was plain to see which activity was their favorite. These kids had the opportunity to participate in their own mini vex version of The 2008 FIRST Overdrive competition. Four teams of four children drove vex bots around a track scoring points by crossing their teams finish line. Pushing a nerf ball across their alliances line earned them even more points. Every child had the opportunity to drive and act as "human players", that is feed nerf balls to their alliance teams in hopes of scoring more points. The students were quick to encourage their teams in racing around the track. Fun, laughter and robots were able to bring together the Project Summit students, their teachers, the students of Team 1761 and our mentors in an amazing day we hope to do again. |

We are a tree. A tree whose growth will never end. Our roots dug deep and secure for us and all others, a place in time and history, so that we will never be forgotten. Our trunk, sturdy and unshakeable by any external force that should try to oppress us, is a leg that will stand tall for us and those who believe that the cooperation of man and machine can aid forever in our constant push for survival. Our branches, forever reaching out to aid others in need of assistance, will provide shade for all who seek the path, for which we have paved, a path of strength, knowledge, leadership, cooperation, and life itself. We are FIRST.
